If you’ve been following this newsletter for the past year, I think you’d agree that I’m somewhat guarded about personal details. Without a doubt, I share family stories and have some level of transparency about my own brokenness, but I also withhold more than you might realize.
For example, unless I’m mistaken I don’t think I’ve explicitly shared that I work for Reformed Youth Ministries (RYM). I know that many readers of this newsletter know me on a personal level, so that’s no surprise. However, I think the majority of the readers don’t know this about me.
RYM is a non-denominational ministry that comes alongside churches to reach and equip youth for Christ. It started in 1972, and I’m honored to get to carry on the vision of those who came before me and play a small part in this Kingdom work.
One major aspect of RYM is the summer conferences we host for churches. Lord willing, we’ll host upwards of 6,000 students and leaders in five states this summer. This makes for an exciting, fun, exhausting, incredible, and challenging summer. It truly is amazing.
That said, the work of this newsletter is not a work of RYM. The writing I do through this Substack is a hobby. It’s something I do on my personal time - many mornings, Saturdays, & lunch hours.
If you’re tracking with me, you know where this is headed. The Family Movie Night articles that are delivered to your inbox each Tuesday morning, might be a little infrequent this summer.
Last summer, I was able to plan many articles ahead of time and kept these on a weekly schedule. But that was last summer. This summer, life is different. We can make all the plans we want, but sometimes life says otherwise.
I really do hope to continue weekly articles, but I might miss one or two…or seven. If I miss some, keep in mind that there are 58 previous articles you can read. Perhaps you’ve missed one? If you’ve recently subscribed to this, peruse the library of the ones that came before you.
This will be a busy summer filled with travel and we really want to soak it up as our firstborn leaves the home. In the midst of the summer chaos, I still think we’re going to be able to catch a movie or two. Maybe one will inspire a thought or something worth sharing.
Regardless, I hope you enjoy your summer and I hope you’re enjoying the FMN community. The time you take to read these means a great deal to me!
